Anyway his surgery went very well. All four of us went to the hospital with him. Jenna was sad when he was taken away, she really wanted to be with him. The staff at the hospital gave him a teddy bear when Ben was getting him in his gown and he hugged it for a while. The whole time we were there he never threw it on the ground. Ben and I were getting excited because we thought maybe he had finally found something to be attached to besides me. Well after being home for two days it just became another thing to throw out of his crib. He no longer likes it. The doctor told us that the stuff that came out of his ears was thick like glue, no wonder he could not hear properly. He had a follow-up appointment about a week later and he passed his hearing test, and his tubes looked good.
Since then he has become obsessed with Toy Story, we think it is because he can actually hear what is being said. He now walks better and does not fall and hit his head multiple times a day, just every other day like a normal boy. We no longer have people asking us if he just learned to walk, and us answering "he has been walking for 5 months," etc. He seems to understand most of what we say to him, and has recently started saying a few more words. So I think he is overall doing better.

What a relief!! How long will the tubes stay in? I can relate to the feeling of finally seeing what your child is really like without other things affecting him. Congrats Wes.
